Saudi Aramco has announced the discovery of 14 new oil and natural gas fields and reservoirs in Saudi Arabia's Eastern Province and the Empty Quarter, “Caspian Energy Media” reports, citing the Saudi Press Agency. These discoveries include six oil fields, two oil reservoirs, two natural gas fields, and four natural gas reservoirs.
The newly discovered oil fields are expected to produce a combined total of approximately 8,126 barrels of oil per day. Notable among these are the Ayfan field, yielding 2,840 barrels per day of very light crude oil, and the Nuwayr field, producing 1,800 barrels per day of medium Arabian crude.
In terms of natural gas, the discoveries are projected to add around 80.5 million standard cubic feet per day (MMscfd) to Saudi Arabia's production. For instance, the Ghizlan field's Unayzah B/C reservoir is producing 32 MMscfd of gas along with 2,525 barrels per day of condensate, while the Araam field is contributing 24 MMscfd of gas and 3,000 barrels per day of condensate.
These findings, although modest in volume compared to Saudi Arabia's overall production, underscore the country's ongoing efforts to explore and develop its hydrocarbon resources. As of February 2025, Saudi Arabia was producing approximately 9 million barrels of crude oil per day, according to OPEC's March report.
