Today Azerbaijan is successfully implementing a consistent energy policy, the result of which is stability and energy security in the region. 2020 has become a historic year for our country; after many years of occupation, it is wonderful to witness this historic military success, achieved under such strong leadership, with an army now acknowledged throughout the world as professional and brave, and in such a short time. In the near future, the liberated territories will be provided with green energy, thereby expanding the possibilities for cooperation in the field of investments and joint projects on renewable energy sources.
The brand of Baku Energy Week has become a symbol of the most prestigious event in the petroleum and energy sector of the Caspian region. This event brings together the Caspian Oil & Gas exhibition, Caspian International Power and Renewable Energy exhibition, as well as the Baku Energy Forum, which is the successor to the Caspian Oil and Gas Conference.
250 companies representing over thirty countries of the world took part in the exhibitions and the forum. The event was traditionally held with the support of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the State Oil Company of the Republic of Azerbaijan (SOCAR).
From the first days of its existence, the exhibition has been under close attention of the republican leadership. The annual participation of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev in the opening ceremony once again confirms the high status of the exhibition. The leaders of the USA, UK, Turkey sent congratulatory letters to the exhibition in connection with the many years of success.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Baku Energy Week, President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev stressed the important role of Azerbaijan in ensuring the energy security of a number of countries. Annual International Exhibition and Conference «Caspian Oil and Gas» played an important role, attracted the attention of global energy players to Azerbaijan, the head of state noted.
- The energy infrastructure of Azerbaijan works without any failures, the President said in his speech. – Obviously, this demonstrates our predictability and reliability, and the fact that we can complete large-scale infrastructure projects that are technically and financially complex.
In this case, the words of the head of our state were clearly reflected in numerous expositions, in which the practical significance of scientific and technical developments successfully complemented the effect of modern innovations. The best ideas, projects, achievements were demonstrated by the majority of participants representing local and foreign companies accredited in Azerbaijan.
The traditional exhibition «Caspian Oil & Gas» brought together leaders of the energy industry from around the world, including government officials, ministers of energy and industrial departments, general secretaries and heads of leading international organizations.
The Baku Energy Week 2022 attended by such high-ranking guests as: Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Serbia (Minister of Mining and Energy); Deputy Prime Minister of Moldova (Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development); Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Diplomacy; General Director of the Directorate-General for Energy of the European Commission; Energy Ministers of Romania, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan; Minister of Oil of the Islamic Republic of Iran; General Secretary of the International Energy Forum; General Secretary of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum; Deputy Secretary of State, Italian Ministry of Ecological Transition; Indonesian Director General for Oil and Gas (Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources); Additional Secretary, Department of Energy, Republic of India; Member of the Board and Executive Director (Bulgargaz EAD); General Director of the TANAP Consortium.
As a part of the additional program of the Energy Week, bilateral business meetings (B2B) were traditionally held.
The companies showcased innovative technologies in the field of oil production and energy transportation, pilot projects in the field of renewable energy, oil and gas storage systems and services, as well as current and prospective oil and gas developments in the region and a number of other achievements.
The ceremonial end of the Baku Energy Week took place on June 4 in the liberated territories of Karabakh. As a result, four agreements were signed in Shusha, including an agreement between the Ministry of Energy of Azerbaijan and BP and Masdar (UAE) on the production of energy from renewable energy sources. A similar agreement on cooperation in the field of renewable energy was also concluded by SOCAR with BP and Masdar.
Thus, the exhibitions and forum became a venue for a number of important meetings of the leading representatives of the energy industry, presented the latest technological products to the whole world, allowed establishing effective and mutually beneficial relations, and contributed to the signing of new promising agreements.
The next Baku Energy Week will be held from May 31 to June 2, 2023 in the capital of Azerbaijan.
