Kyrgyzstani Zholaman Sharshenbekov won a bronze medal at the Olympic Games in Paris.
He competed in the Greco-Roman wrestling tournament in the weight category up to 60 kg.
In the first fight, Sharshenbekov defeated Kazakh Aidos Sultangali, and then was stronger than Razvan Arnaut from Romania and reached the semifinals.
In the semi-final match, the Kyrgyzstani lost to Kenichiro Fumita from Japan in a bitter fight, but retained a chance for a bronze medal.
In the fight for the final 3rd place, Sharshenbekov fought against Mehdi Mohsennejad from Iran and won with a score of 3:1, becoming a bronze medalist at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris .
This medal was the first for the Kyrgyz team at the Games in France and the eighth in history.
