European commission is open to the exploration and exploitation of unconventional gas

Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Tajani, do you expect revival of the industrial sector of EU owing to the growth of EU countries’ economies after a long crisis? 

Antonio Tajani, Vice President of the European Union and European Commissioner for Industry and Entrepreneurship: Nobody can neglect our current difficulties, but there are good reasons to be optimistic about the capacity of European industry to respond to the challenges. Europe is a world-leader in many strategic sectors such as automotive, aeronautics, engineering, space, chemicals, and pharmaceuticals. Therefore, I expect to see a revival and renewal of our European industry. Things keep changing constantly, so it will not always be the same type industry that we have been used to host in Europe. The important thing is to keep developing our innovative capacity, and keep up with the needs of the markets. If we can keep up that spirit – which has a long tradition in Europe! – then I am positive about our industrial future.
