Det.Al Holding developing aluminium industry in Azerbaijan

Caspian Energy (CE): What is your opinion about the prospects of the aluminium industry in Azerbaijan? How do you see the role of Det.Al Alüminium in this regard?

Yalchin Jamalov, Executive Director, Det.Al Alüminium: It is common knowledge that the birth of the aluminum industry in Azerbaijan was dated to the middle of the last century. During the period of independence, especially since 2002, according to the instructions and with the support of the Azerbaijani leadership the works have been performed in the country to recover jobs at the state-owned aluminum smelters as well as works to modernise firms and organise production at the level of modern requirements. As soon as Det.Al established trade relations with these plants in Azerbaijan, the company studied prospects of the metallurgical sector and made a decision to invest in this sector. As a part of the project on construction of the first aluminum plant (Det.Al Aluminum Complex) with the capacity of 100,000 tonnes a year in the city of Ganja, the first Phase of Det.Al Aluminum Complex with the 50.000 tonnes annual production capacity was commissioned in 2011.

Up to the present day, aluminum ingots A-9/A-8 have been manufactured at the complex under the brand name Detal AZE and supplied to the world markets. We have developed a number of projects to boost the aluminum industry, but the most urgent task is the construction of the second phase of the plant, which has been reflected in the State Program for Development of the Industry for 2015-2020 approved by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.
