Caspian Offshore Construction:  Widening horizons.  Establishing traditions.

The first private shipping company of Kazakhstan, Caspian Offshore Construction was established in 2003 to specialize in the development of the support infrastructure marine fleet involved in the development of oil and gas fields. The company performs the full range of operations, including control over construction of new ships and repair of the existing ones, operational and technical management of the own fleet and tonnage of customers as well as financial and logistical support.   

In 2005 the company started business operations from mobilization of the two floating hotels ‘Shkotov’ and ‘Caspian Princess’ in the Caspian. Each vessel is capable to welcome comfortably up to 300 passengers on board. Both of the vessels were modernized in 2014.        

Nowadays, the company’s fleet numbers 20 vessels built at leading European shipyards while the total fleet which is operationally managed by the company numbers over 40 vessels. It comprises over one third of the active service fleet based in the Kazakh sector of the Caspian Sea. The fleet managed by the Caspian Offshore Construction includes two floatels, multi-function anchor handler, five multifunction ice-class tugboats, two science-research vessels, three high-speed vessels for transportation of the personnel and cargoes, and 5 icebreaker rescue towboats. 

In particular, multifunction shallow-draught ice-class tugboats Mangistau, designed and built especially for the Kashagan project, perfectly suit for performing several functions at the same time.  They are able to break ice with the thickness up to 1m, fulfill towage operations as well as conduct rescue and evacuation operation at Kashagan where the oil reservoir is distinguished by high risk of hydrogen sulfide emission, shallow water and severe climate conditions when the temperature falls down to 35 degrees below zero in winter and rises over 40 degrees above zero in summer. 

Construction of the modern science-research vessel “Kanysh Satpayev” was completed in September 2014. The vessel with a 1.5m draught has been designed in compliance with the specific character of operations in the north part of the Caspian Sea and supplied with the system for launching the science equipment. There are two laboratories and storage rooms on board for keeping scientific samples. The vessels can also be used for performing life saving operations. 

Own diving service recognized by leading rating communities is based in Bautino settlement. 

Modern and high-quality fleet along with high-skilled personnel of the Caspian Offshore Construction enabled to introduce and successfully certify safety management system in compliance with the international code on maritime navigation safety, quality management system and environmental management system in compliance with ISO standards. 

After acquiring 5 motor boats designed for fighting against oil spillage, the Company received a state license of the RoK in 2012 for conducting oil spill response operations on shore and offshore. Construction of the new support base of the offshore operations began in Bautino (Mangistau region) settlement in 2014. 

Following its motto “Expanding horizons and setting traditions”, the Company opened its subsidiary enterprise in Astrakhan (Russia) in 2012. In mid of 2013 the Company registered its branch in Ashkhabad (Turkmenistan). In near future the Company plans to enter the market of Azerbaijan by opening a permanent representative office in the city of Baku. 

Over a 10-year activity Caspian Offshore Construction took the leading position in the industry and proved its capability to move forward by competing with foreign companies in the rapidly developing market as well as create something new and something useful for enhancing the welfare of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
