Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Fraser, the EU pursues the active policy of energy diversification, internal consolidation and integration of energy assets. Does Scotland support these processes? What else do you believe can be done to promote energy security of the EU and its member states?
Murdo Fraser, Convener of the Economy, Energy and Tourism Committee of the Scottish Parliament: My party (Conservatives, editorial note) is firmly behind the principle of energy diversification having long argued for a balanced energy mix. Looking at the energy security of the EU as a whole is very difficult as each country’s individual circumstances will vary. I know that Scotland benefits greatly from being part of a single energy market within the UK and other European member states can benefit from a similar process.
