International water supply projects

This year Azersu OJSC has proceeded with implementation of water supply and sewerage projects in Baku city, Absheron peninsula and 24 towns and regional centres of the country. These projects were boosted by both state money and loans attracted from international financial structures.

Within the framework of the Second Open Communal Infrastructure Project financed jointly with German bank KFW and the State Secretariat for Economic Affairs SECO, construction and assembling works on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage networks in Shaki and Ganja cities were accelerated, these cities were provided with a source of water supply from Goygol. The scope of project works implemented for 9 months included construction of water mains and network water pipelines with the length of 61km, 46.55 km of sewerage lines and completion of construction of two water reservoirs.

The scope of works performed during 9 months of the current year as part of the project on reconstruction of water supply and sewerage systems, which is financed jointly with the Asian Development Bank, included construction of water pipelines with the total length of over 65km, sewerage lines with the length of 54.5km, completion of construction of four water reservoirs, drilling of 5 subartesian wells. Once drilled, these wells enabled to ensure drinking water supply to Beylagan city.

Under the project financed by the World Bank, which covers Shamakhy, Gabala, Saatly and Sabirabad towns,  250km of water pipelines and 57 km of sewerage lines were laid, two water reservoirs were constructed and over 10,000 lines between households were commissioned over the period.

11km long water pipelines and over 46km long sewage lines were laid in Gusar, Khachmaz, Khyzy and Naftalan regions at the expense of the credit of the Japan International Cooperation Agency.

Construction-assembling operations have been held this year at the expense of budget funds in 11 towns: Hajigabul, Lankaran, Imishli, Mingachevir, Gah, Guba, Zardab, Kurdamir, Ujar and Bilasuvar. Built in the mentioned territories were over 8km long water mains, 116km long water supply distribution networks and 40km long sewage collectors. Over 33,000 smart-card meters were installed in these towns.

Along with the regions of the country, the projects concerning supply of drinkable water and provision of sewage services are also implemented in Baku city and Absheron peninsula as well. Construction of 2 out of three projected lines, designed for water collection from the lake, has been completed within the framework of construction of the Jeyranbatan water treatment facility with an ultrafilter. Apart from this, operations at water reservoirs designed for crude and ready water, pump station and distribution camera are completed. Construction of the water reservoir “118” and the water main from the treatment facility to the water reservoir are completed as well.

In the meantime, operations on construction of collectors Hojahasan-Binagadi-Hirdalan, Bayil-Bibiheybat-Lokbatan, Zabrat-Kurdakhany-Pirshaghy, Pirshaghy-Sakhilboyu (Coast) and Darnagul-Bakikhanov-Garachukhur were continued in the Absheron peninsula.
