Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Grabowski, how would you evaluate the results of the Climate Summit held in New York in late September?
Maciej Grabowski, Minister of the Environment of Poland: I believe that the New York Summit was a very important political stimulus on the way to the new agreement. The very presence of 126 heads of states, including president Barack Obama, proves the involvement of major politicians wanting to facilitate the signing a new climate agreement in Paris. During the meeting the US President and the Deputy Prime Minister of China – leaders of the two largest emitters of greenhouse gases made a declaration to cooperate in order to agree upon the Paris agreement. The results of these debates are already visible. Following the EU agreement on cutting greenhouse gases by 40% by 2030, USA and China have presented their tentative objectives in reducing greenhouse gases emissions which will form a contribution to the new climate agreement.
