Caspian Energy (CE): Mr. Šefčovič, will the new European Commission officials, bearing responsibility for energy affairs, follow the energy policy of the previous team? What are the goals and objectives of the new energy mission of the European Commission?
Maroš Šefčovič, Vice-President of the European Commission for Energy Union: The priorities of the new European Commission under President Jean-Claude Juncker are laid down in his political guidelines, presented to the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 15 July 2014. They are titled as “A new Start for Europe: My Agenda for Jobs, Growth, Fairness and Democratic change”. Guideline number 3 calls for the creation of a “Resilient Energy Union with a Forward-Looking Climate Change Policy”, the flagship project falling under my responsibility. It builds on the vast achievements of the previous Commission and sets out the vision towards building an Energy Union.
