Water supply volume grew considerably in Azerbaijan

In parallel with modernization of water supply and sewage systems in compliance with international standards Azersu OJSC attaches particular importance to the quality growth of services provided to consumers. Through January-September 2014 water production at sources totaled 538mln cubic meters that is 13 mln cubic meters higher compared to the same period of 2013. Water consumption per capita has fallen from 175 cubic meters, fixed in 2013, down to 165 cubic meters this year. Meanwhile, the quantity of subscribers reached 1 mln 309 thousand people by the end of the period under review.

This year Azersu OJSC continued implementing projects on water supply and sewage in Baku city, Absheron peninsula as well as in the cities and regional centers. Thus, 842.5km long and distribution water mains, 267km long sewage and drainage systems were built on basis of these projects within 9 months of 2014. Scouring of 182 central and yard water reservoirs with total capacity of 605 thousand cubic meters was carried out over the period under review. 430km long sewage lines and rainfall run-off systems were cleaned to ensure normal functioning of sewage systems.

As the result of implemented projects, 156,000 people were, for the first time, supplied centrally with drinkable water within the framework of construction-assembling operations. In general, implemented projects improved water supply of 358,000 people.

In order to control the composition of water supplied to consumers as well as the composition of waste waters, the central laboratory has taken and tested over 7400 water samples. Apart from this, 832 samples taken from the facilities designed for purification of waste waters, industrial enterprises and collectors, were tested for determining their physic-chemical and bacteriological indicators.

Fulfillment of the “Overall training plan” started in May 2014 within the framework of the “Program of the regional training and development – 1”. Over 1500 employees were trained in 7 regions of the country within the framework of the project. In general, 2673 employees were attracted to 94 trainings over the past period. Meanwhile, a group of specialists of Azersu OJSC took part in trainings held in Japan, Singapore and South Korea, in order to study the advanced experience.

For the purpose of facilitating services provided to consumers and ensuring transparency in this area, and based on the agreement signed with the State Agency for Services to Citizens and Social Innovations under the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Asan Xidmət centers have been providing certain services to Azersu OJSC since 2014.

Azersu OJSC has been assigned some important tasks on provision of services related with the conduction of the First European Games 2015 in Baku. Since many guests will visit our country from abroad, monitoring of drinkable water and sewage systems installed at tourism and public catering facilities will be continued. Besides, measures will be taken for handling the short-comings.
