Adaptation measures for the resilience of Central Asia to climate challenges are reviewed in Uzbekistan

A validation workshop was held in Tashkent within the framework of the regional program "Climate Risk Management in Central Asia", implemented by the German Society for International Cooperation (GIZ) in 5 Central Asian countries. In Uzbekistan, the program is implemented with the support of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change.

During the seminar, the results of the capacity-building, cross-border cooperation support, and climate resilience measures in Central Asia, that were carried out in 2024, were summarized.

The current climate risks and adaptation measures that are necessary for the sustainability of the region were also discussed. The contribution of each country was highlighted, and participants expressed their views on improving existing adaptation strategies. It was decided to improve these measures, which will make it possible to respond more effectively to climate challenges. The implementation of the updated adaptation measures is expected in 2025.
