In May, Russia rose to third place among the main gas suppliers to the European Union, overtaking Norway. This was reported by the RIA Novosti news agency, citing data from Eurostat.
The United States remained the EU's largest gas supplier, selling gas to Europe worth €1.9 billion, though this marked a one-third decline compared to April. Algeria ranked second, with gas exports worth €1.12 billion.
Russia exported gas to the EU worth €1.1 billion, which is almost 25% more than in April. Norway reduced its supplies by 13% in May, delivering fuel worth €842 million.
RIA Novosti notes that in May, Russia increased its liquefied natural gas (LNG) exports by one-third, with LNG accounting for €703 million. Pipeline gas supplies also grew, rising by 6.4% to €408 million.
