Belt and Road initiative boosts trade turnover

In the first 11 months of 2025, the Beijing region set a new historical record for export growth, which increased by 3% year-on-year to 568.35 billion yuan (around USD 80 billion), according to the news portal Zhongguo Xinwen She, citing the latest data from Beijing Customs. During the same period, the total foreign trade turnover of the capital region — including central government bodies and organizations in Beijing — reached 2.93 trillion yuan.

Data show that from January to November, the volume of Beijing’s foreign trade with countries participating in the “Belt and Road” initiative reached 1.76 trillion yuan, accounting for 60.1% of the region’s total foreign trade turnover for the period. Growth momentum was maintained in trade with five Central Asian countries (9%), South Africa (23.2%), and the Taiwan region (6.5%).
