According to the Mehr News Agency, citing Rossiya Segodnya, the Kremlin has announced that Vladimir Putin, President of Russia, will pay a visit to India on December 4–5. The visit will take place at the invitation of Narendra Modi, Prime Minister of India.
According to Yury Ushakov, Aide to the President of the Russian Federation, the upcoming trip of Vladimir Putin will be accompanied by “significant achievements,” and the two countries are finalizing a package of strategic agreements that could elevate India–Russia relations to a new level.
According to Bloomberg, in the first half of 2025, trade turnover between Russia and India reached $69.2 billion, which is 4.5% lower than Russia’s trade volume with the European Union, amounting to $72.5 billion. At the same time, for the whole of 2024, trade between Russia and India already exceeded a record $70.6 billion, which was 9.2% higher than in 2023, according to data from India’s Ministry of Commerce and Industry.
According to expert estimates, accumulated Indian investments in Russia and Russian investments in India amount to about $15 billion on each side. At the New Delhi summit in December 2021, the leaders of both countries confirmed the goal of increasing this figure to $50 billion.
