Uzbekistan implements a project on sustainable forest and rangelands management

A workshop on the implementation of a joint project by the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change, the Ministry of Agriculture and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) – "Sustainable Forest and Rangelands in the Dryland ecosystems of Uzbekistan" – was held in Tashkent.

This five-year project, with a budget of $3.8 million allocated by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), aims to support national efforts in promoting sustainable land and forest management and restore landscapes to fulfill Uzbekistan’s commitments to Land Degradation Neutrality (LDN).

The main components of the project include strengthening institutional frameworks, promoting sustainable land management to improve soil health, empowering local communities and enhancing climate resilience. “Caspian Energy Media” reports with reference to the official website of the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
