Our long-term goal is to strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a Eurasian transit hub

Limited regional transport connections remain a serious challenge for landlocked countries, creating a range of economic issues, including high transit and trade costs as well as vulnerability to geopolitical factors.

According to AZERTAC, citing the press service of Akorda, President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said in his speech at the Third United Nations Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in Turkmenistan.

According to him, Kazakhstan, together with its partners, is making significant efforts to strengthen regional connectivity, promote digital transformation, and support long-term sustainable development.

He said, “We prioritize the development of transport corridors and transit infrastructure along the ‘North-South’ route and the Middle Corridor. Our long-term goal is to create a unified network of railways, highways, aviation, and logistics centers. This will strengthen Kazakhstan’s position as a Eurasian transit hub. Currently, it accounts for nearly 85% of the digital freight flow between Asia and Kazakhstan. We are also investing in digitalization. Kazakhstan has established the Alem.AI Artificial Intelligence Center in Astana and recently launched a supercomputer.”
