Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and Bulgaria agree on draft memorandum for green energy exports

Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and Bulgaria have agreed on a draft quadrilateral memorandum of understanding on cooperation in green energy transmission, “Caspian Energy Media” reports, citing Azerbaijan's Ministry of Energy.

The document was agreed upon during the 3rd meeting of deputy ministers of authorized agencies from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Türkiye, and Bulgaria in Istanbul.

Azerbaijan was represented by a delegation headed by Deputy Minister of Energy Orkhan Zeynalov. Representatives of Azerenerji also participated in the event. Zeynalov delivered an update on Azerbaijan’s strategy for energy transition, highlighting the country's renewable energy potential, particularly in wind energy from the Caspian Sea, and efforts to develop green energy zones.

The meeting also focused on the creation of a legal and contractual framework for the proposed green energy transmission corridor. The draft "Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation in the field of green energy transmission" was presented, which outlines the framework for enhanced electricity exchange between the participating countries. The document, now agreed upon, is a key step toward making the green energy corridor a reality.
