SOCAR explores exploration and trading areas in Somalia

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) is exploring possible cooperation with Somalia in various areas of the energy sector, “Caspian Energy Media”  reports, citing SOCAR.

The discussions were held during a meeting between SOCAR President Rovshan Najaf and Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources of the Federal Republic of Somalia Dahir Shire Mohamed.

It was emphasized that the high-level meetings held on February 12 between President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of the Federal Republic of Somalia Hassan Sheikh Mohamud have created a favorable basis for cooperation between the two countries in various areas, including the energy sector.

During the conversation, the possibility of Somali students studying at the Baku Higher Oil School (BHOS) in order to develop human capital in the oil and gas sector in Somalia, and cooperation opportunities for Somali specialists to increase their knowledge and experience in the oil and gas sector were considered.

The meeting discussed possible cooperation in various areas of the energy sector, including exploration and trading, and other issues of mutual interest.
