Mark Carney to be next PM of Canada

Mark Carney, former Governor of the Bank of England (2013–2020) and the Bank of Canada (2008–2013), has been elected as the new leader of Canada’s ruling Liberal Party.

According to the results of the vote held on Sunday, March 9, Carney secured 86% of the votes, surpassing former Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland, Government House Leader Karina Gould, and businessman Frank Baylis.

Carney will replace Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who announced his resignation in January. “Caspian Energy Media” reports, citing Euronews.
