Caspian Energy Club members made a business visit to Latvia’s capital Riga on May 26-28. This was said by Caspian Energy Club International’s Managing Director Gunel Guliyeva.

According to her, on May 27, a B2B networking event ‘Latvia – Azerbaijan’ involving Caspian Energy Club members and a  number of companies representing Latvia’s private sector was held in the framework of the 3-day business tour. “We extend our deep gratitude to Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Azerbaijan Republic to Latvia Mr. Elnur Sultanov and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Latvia to Azerbaijan Mr. Edgars Skuja for the support they provided to Caspian Energy Club. Our trips have already become a good tradition. I would like to note that we have achieved positive results by setting continuous communication between entrepreneurs of the two countries and conducting close cooperation with the Latvian Chamber of Commerce”, Caspian Energy Club International’s Managing Director Gunel Guliyeva noted.

“Such business tours which bring together entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan and Latvia give a strong impetus to signing of a number of agreements, development of bilateral ties and further expansion of relations between private sectors of both countries.  In the first decade of May we had a meeting in Baku with the delegation consisting of 10 Latvian agriculture companies. At present, we participate in meetings here in Latvia with ICT, education and green technology companies”, Caspian Energy Club Chairman and Group CEO Telman Aliyev said.

On May 28, Caspian Energy Club members visited the National Library of Latvia – the honorary facility of the Latvian culture. Among the guests were also the First Secretary of the Azerbaijan Republic Embassy in Latvia Bakhtiyar Musayev, Deputy Head of Mission at the Estonian Embassy in Latvia Siim Krispin, Deputy Head of Mission at Finland’s Embassy in Latvia Jaakko Koivusaari, and EU’s Project Department’s Manager Liga Siceva. In the course of the visit, the guests familiarized themselves with the work of the library, services it provides, as well as with rare-edition reading rooms. Then, the report titled “By building the bridges: Economic relations between Azerbaijan and the Central Baltic region states” and made by Chief macroeconomic analyst at Citadele Bank for the Baltic region Martin Abolins was heard. At the end of the meeting, the copy of the Caspian Energy journal was gifted to the archive of the National Library of Latvia.

On the same day, the Caspian Energy Club members also attended the Central Baltic & Azerbaijan Business Forum held in Riga.

“Conduction of the Forum on the 28th of May is of particular importance to us. Apart from being the most glorious and brightest holiday in Azerbaijan’s history, too, this date is highly significant to Caspian Energy because it was on the 28th of May 1999 when the Caspian Energy journal’s first issue was released. Taking the opportunity, I would like to extend my congratulation wishes on the occasion of this significant date to all Azerbaijanis who are present here, as well as Caspian Energy family members and friends”, Caspian Energy Club International’s Managing Director Gunel Guliyeva said during her speech at the forum. Though the LEF network Azerbaijan project was launched not so long time ago, it has managed to yield very important results and will certainly gain much broader success, she said.

“Most of the Caspian Energy Club member companies already signed memorandums and contracts at yesterday’s B2B meetings. I hope such deals will promote the expansion of trade-economic cooperation between the countries, enable the rise of new initiatives and encourage inflow of investments”, Caspian Energy Club International’s Managing Director Gunel Guliyeva said.
